COMMUNITY SOLAR CONSULTANT (Denver-Boulder area)

Full-time and part-time independent contractor positions available

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Solar Consultant will be an independent contractor based out of SunShare’s Denver office and will be principally responsible for nurturing community solar customer prospects to close while representing the professionalism and the focus on customer-experience that is a core value of SunShare. As a Solar Consultant, your responsibility will be to educate residents on the benefits of community solar thereby enabling consumers to make informed decisions about their energy usage, the environment, and how to better their lives. This position requires experience in direct B-to-C sales as well as excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The candidate will be required to effectively master and articulate SunShare’s value proposition, diligently track activity using SunShare’s systems and processes, participate in some evening and weekend events, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s messaging and sales operations. Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced and unstructured environment and should be an independent thinker and problem-solver.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Strategizes/preplans on how to best achieve sales objectives by understanding company pricing and product programming information.
• Prepares and delivers professional sales presentations to customers by balancing the company’s priorities and customers’ needs.
• Attains standards of performance goals by achieving the goals set by management.
• Maintains professional relationships with all customers by participating in effective work with sales calls, sales blitzes and community events.
• Remains informed of company activities and updates by attending and actively participating in weekly sales meetings.
• Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Strictly adheres to all regulatory and consumer protection compliance including delivering disclosures to prospects.

COMMUNICATIONS & PR SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY:

This part-time role will contribute on a contract basis to develop and maintain SunShare’s public perception in the consumer, industry, and legislative/regulatory spaces. This role will use both earned and owned media to establish SunShare as the go-to industry expert on community solar and renewable energy, as well as drive SunShare’s consumer reputation in line with its promoters and brand values. Experience in clean energy and relationships with key national, Colorado, and Minnesota publications is a plus.

This role will work in conjunction with the in-house marketing, regulatory, and customer experience teams to develop and surgically deploy tactics such as media relations, influencer outreach, thought leadership, social media, sponsored content and non-conventional tactics that will favorably influence consumers, regulatory and legislative groups, and industry insiders.

In short, the right candidate will need to prove he or she can use old PR and new PR to quickly and precisely create and maintain a favorable public image through third-party validation. This role will be part-time based on the business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Secure positive coverage with high-profile national and local media to catapult SunShare to the top of industry coverage
• Integrate PR, social media, and influencer strategy to create consistent, positive content and increase consumer engagement
• Develop and execute media relations and social media platform strategy
• Mine and create story ideas and proactively (and creatively) pitch media to secure coverage, regardless of “newsworthy” events
• Draft traditional media materials, including key messages, press kit, press releases, bios, byline articles
• Assist with the planning and execution of events, press conferences / briefings, media tours, etc.
• Spearhead earned and owned media strategy
• Research and prepare executives in media training for presentations, conferences, and interviews

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 7-10 years of marketing or advertising experience with 7+ years of direct Public Relations agency or other experience
• Self-direction will be mandatory to ensure productivity
• Understanding of and willingness to dive into the regulatory and legislative challenges of community solar
• Proven ability to pitch and secure earned media – even when there’s not an obvious angle available
• Experience in reputation management, from a traditional and social media perspective
• Must have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including strong listening skills
• Must be able to thrive under deadline, be very detail-oriented and always be willing to go the extra mile

VP OF PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

POSITION SUMMARY:

The candidate will be a leader in a fast-paced, high-growth, and innovative organization with a high performing team. He or she will be responsible for leading project development in new and existing state markets in the community and distributed generation solar space.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead Project Development activities in several of SunShare’s key markets. This will include development of solar projects and managing them to NTP. This role will direct site selection, manage landmen, screen interconnections, and oversee the entire development and permitting process.
• This role will be responsible for leading SunShare’s business development in existing markets and new markets as identified.
• Articulate operational rationale and expected financial outcomes to the rest of the management team related to projects moving forward.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 10+ years of project development and strategy experience required
• 5 years of experience in the solar/renewable energy field strongly preferred
• Must have a strong relationship base in the solar industry
• Project development and/or management experience preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge and / or expertise of electricity markets, utility rate tariffs, interconnection agreements, solar industry trends, and regulatory policies
• Demonstrated ability to lead without close direction or management; capable of performing and anticipating duties outside of the job description
